Sure the world wide web is great, but you, you make us salivate... Yes, we love technology, but not as much as you, you see... But we STILL love technology... Always and forever. Our love is like a flock of doves, flying up to heaven above... always and forever, always and forever... Why do you need us? Why do you love us? Always and forever...

The Best Britpop Album in the World Ever...

Since Lilly recently told me that Hot Hot Heat were ok for a Britpop band and that there is a 10 year retrospective on the Beeb I think it's time I burned a Britpop record for our next house party, Sept 17th for anyone interested in making a short 10 hour flight. I want a band with their best track that reminds you of good times circa 1995.
So far I have:
1. Blur - Parklife.
2. Oasis - Supersonic.
3. Suede - Animal Nitrate.
4. Elastica - Stutter.
5. Pulp - Razzamattaz.
6. Supergrass - Mansize Rooster
.... and this is where I get hazy. I'm sure Keith will say Sleeper and Menswe@r need to be on it and Joe will tell me St Etienne and Stereolab so I need suggestions. Thinking I need songs from Shed Seven, The Charlattans, The Stone Roses, and I was toying with the idea of having some Ocean Colour Scene but then came to my senses. You never know even Stu might have something to say on the blog about this.

All good suggestions, should also have:
'Great Things' by Echobelly
'Wake Up Boo'
'Getting Better' or 'Disco Down' by Shed Seven (although both those are post-95)

I was going to say the Sultans too, especially as I saw this news story earlier:

ps Stereolab and St Etienne might stand out like sore thumbs on a party tape but Black Grape and the Bluetones should be on there too. Plus McAlmont and Butler, what a fucking tune that is.

Mr Boombastic came out that year too. Mr lover lover, me love her, mmmmmm.

Nice. Does anyone know if I sold them Casual Sex in the Cineplex? I swore I had it but can't remember if I sold it to anyone to finance one of my numerous trips to America. Anyone have an MP3 of Yes by M & B? Man how cool is that that the Sultans of Ping are reforming. I would also like to see the Frank and Walters reform. Can you call Carter USM Brit Pop? Also can't believe I sold my Kenickie album. Man I need Steve to go back to work at Andy's.

Might be contentious but what about the Longpigs and Spacehog? I would also love it if I could find an MP3 of Galvanised by Compulsion. iTunes and Napster are shit.

You HAVE to have "In The Meantime" by Spacehog. Not necessarily a britpop tune but what a TUNE! Altough i can't be arsed to check downstairs i think it was to whom you flogged the Sultans album.

Please do not put Parklife on as your Blur track. Jubilee & Charmless Man are miles better.

Ok, bearing in mind these suggestions have a party (and Subs) in mind rather than my personal favourites, here goes:
Suede - Animal Nitrate
Radiohead - Just
Elastica - Connection
Oasis - Cigarettes...
Pulp - Common People
Supergrass - Caught By The Fuzz
Charlatans - Only One I Know
Menswear - I'll Manage Somehow
Sleeper - Inbetweener
Echobelly - King Of The Kerb
Shed Seven - Disco Down
Gene - Be My Light...
Kula Shaker - Grateful When You're Dead
OCS - The Day We Caught The Train
Bluetones - Slight Return
Soup Dragons - I'm Free
Black Grape - Reverend...
Happy Mondays - Step On
Inspiral Carpets - Saturn 5
Space - Neighbourhood
Flowered Up - Weekender (although never played at subs)
SFA - God Show Me Magic
Boo Radleys - Wake Up Boo
Ash - Girl From Mars or Kung Foo
Ride - What You Do To Me
Powder - Afrodisiac
And finally all 9 mins of I Am The Resurection to round the night off

And for that full Scallys era subs vibe insert 10 mins of Prodigy and Pantera. If it's twin room Subs then have a rock tape playing in the kitchen!

For those feeling nostalgic anyone remember these?

Go to bed already Keith. Soup Dragons, wasn't that pre 1995.

I guess most of it's been said above. I might add...

What's in the Box? by Boo Radleys
Lost Myself by Longpigs

and, tragically,

Let's All Go Together by Marion.

and, if I was drunk,

Happy Shopper by 60ft Dolls.

Keith, I can't believe there's no Whiteout on your list.

It was late and i was tired. And i was trying not to put my personal favourites down - But i feel like a poor supporter of hardcore scotpop by forgetting Whiteout. Best track is Detroit, and may even be in my top 10 britpop tunes ever

Thought of some more (you didn't expect me to stop with the forty or so above?)
Silver Sun - Lava
Jocasta - Change Me
Garbage - Stupid Girl
Cast - Finetime
Kenickie - Punka
Kinky Machine - 10 Second Bionic Man
Mansun - Stripper Vicar
Primal Scream - Rocks
Shampoo - Trouble
Wonder Stuff - Size Of A Cow

Where do we stand with Jesus Jones and Kingmaker?

Jamie, I'd love to hear what your yankee buddies make of I Want You by the Inspirals and Mark E Smith.

I feel like there should be a bit of My Life Story on there too but i can't decide on a track, they never really had any indie club bangers.

You're right.

17 Reason Why is a shoe-in.

Can't believe we missed that.

And I guess if you're wanting a proper Britpop experience, you should have some Dodgy. Either So Let Me Go Far or Making the Most Of.

In A Room was better, or Staying Out For The Summer for the anthem vote.

Maybe a bit of Heavy Stereo and Northern Uproar
